Sustainable power supply: CTP and node.energy announce energy partnership

CTP, Europe’s largest listed owner, developer and portfolio holder of logistics and industrial real estate, is taking a new approach to sustainable energy supply in the logistics real estate sector together with node.energy. node.energy GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, offers innovative climate-neutral energy solutions for producers and consumers. As the market leader for the digitalization of official notifications in the renewable energy sector, the company is developing the SaaS solution opti.node. This enables operators of renewable energy systems to implement lucrative business models in a professional and legally compliant manner.

To ensure a sustainable power supply, CTP plans to provide 90 percent of all its properties across Europe with 100 percent green energy by 2030. To achieve this, the company relies on photovoltaic systems on the roofs of its properties. As the electricity generated by solar energy is subject to fluctuations depending on the time of day and night as well as weather conditions, the developer obtains electricity from other sustainable energy sources such as wind power when consumption is higher.

With the support of node.energy, the right energy supplier can be found on a decentralized energy market. node.energy connects consumers and around 14,000 certified producers of CO2-neutral, local energy by means of direct PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements). One example of this is the “match” between the wind energy producer Windpark.eu and CTP, which provides the developer with energy generated from wind when needed.

With the new model for supplying its properties, CTP is not only taking a further step towards sustainability but is also acting as a full energy supplier itself. This allows tenants to benefit from reliable and cheaper energy. After all, independence from the regular electricity market means that there is no need for costly middlemen for the energy supply – and there is no need to accept price fluctuations. Another advantage for users is that all energy services are managed by CTP, from generating to billing. This ensures transparency and a better overview.

“CTP is leading the way: Direct PPAs are the future of sustainable and economical energy supply in Germany and with node.energy, this future has already become a

reality today. At node.energy, we ensure that the required amount of electricity from PV systems and wind farms is optimally supplied. We are delighted to be able to accompany this model in partnership with CTP,” says Michael Blichmann, Managing Director of node.energy.

In the future, the partnership will also enable CTP to trade and sell its locally generated surplus energy on the spot market.

“When it comes to energy in the logistics real estate sector, there is still a lot of potential that is currently not being exploited. Tenants and owners are facing the challenges of rising energy prices and high requirements for sustainability and climate protection, for example through the ESG criteria. The partnership with node.energy enables us to become a pioneer in the field of energy in the logistics real estate market. This also benefits our real estate users in particular. We are already looking forward to further cooperating with node.energy,” says Thomas Gooßens, Head of Energy Business at CTP Germany.

“The fossil-free energy supply is one of CTP’s many sustainability measures. These also include a fossil-free heat supply using heat pumps and a focus on the revitalization of brownfield sites. This reduces soil sealing and makes an effective contribution to climate and environmental protection and the preservation of biodiversity. All of CTP’s new properties are certified to the international BREEAM Very Good sustainability standard or better,” says Timo Hielscher, Managing Director M&A at CTP Germany.

103 events and over 2,000 participants: logistics draws attention to itself on action day

The 18th Tag der Logistik (Supply Chain Day) took place on April 10, 2025. At a total of 103 events, 114 companies, organizations and institutes from the logistics sector opened their doors and provided free insights behind the scenes. Over 2,000 participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in otherwise hidden areas of logistics and experience the diversity of the industry live.

To increase the visibility of the sector, the Tag der Logistik was held for the 18th time on April 10, 2025. This year, 114 companies, organizations and institutes from all over Europe participated in the day of action. As part of 103 events, which were mainly held in Germany, but also in Ireland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine, they opened their doors to the public – both on site and online – and offered anyone interested the opportunity to experience logistics free of charge. The Tag der Logistik attracted a total of 2,050 participants.

The highlights of this year’s day of action included guided tours of various Amazon logistics and distribution centers, a look behind the scenes at the Andreas Schmid Group and a bus tour through the port of Duisburg. At the career orientation event Vom Klicken bis zum Klingeln in the Rhine-County Neuss, which took place for the twelfth time on a Tag der Logistik, pupils from the 8th to the 13th grade had the opportunity to find out about the diverse career prospects in the logistics industry and gain insights into the exciting job profiles.

There was also plenty to discover online: for example, Inform GmbH held a webinar using practical examples from companies from various industries to show how smart technologies can be used to improve delivery capability, reduce unnecessary costs and make processes more transparent, efficient and resilient. A complete list of events on Tag der Logistik 2025 can be found here.

“This year’s Tag der Logistik was a complete success. We were able to offer over 300 visitors and numerous media representatives an exciting insight into the world of modern logistics at several of our logistics locations across Germany. Participants were particularly impressed by the interplay between our dedicated employees and innovative technologies – be it automated warehousing, intelligent transport management or efficient last-mile delivery. These insights have shown why logistics is

one of the most exciting industries of the future and the wide range of career opportunities it offers,” says Lars Krause, Regional Director Customer Fulfillment in the German Amazon network. The world’s leading online retailer was not only involved in 2025 with guided tours of its logistics and distribution centers but also supported the campaign day as a premium partner for the fourth time in a row.

A virtual press conference on the resilience of supply chains was held the day before to set the mood for the Tag der Logistik. Dr. Klaus Wohlrabe, Deputy Director of the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys, presented the results of a survey on the supply chain strategy of German companies for the first time in a public setting. In addition, Prof. Dr. Christian Kille from the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, who is a member and spokesperson for the Logistikweisen, added to the discussion with his analysis of the current market situation and the outlook for the rest of the year.

The next Tag der Logistik will take place on April 16, 2026.

More visibility for logistics: Wirtschaftsmacher launch nationwide poster campaign

Under the heading Big Bang, the initiative Die Wirtschaftsmacher is launching a large-scale campaign at the end of March. The aim is to raise awareness of the supply function of logistics with a poster and postcard campaign in major German cities. In addition, the Wirtschaftsmacher are continuing their successful campaigning on social media and on the website to get young people interested in a job in the industry.

Whether it’s innovative technologies that drive digitalisation or the breakfast that ensures a good start to the day – logistics is behind everything. However, many people do not realise the importance of logistics for their everyday lives. At the end of March, the Die Wirtschaftsmacher initiative is therefore launching a nationwide campaign to raise the profile of the economic sector among the public. One component of the campaign are 85 large-scale posters that use simple imagery to focus on the systemically relevant supply function of logistics. On the other hand, 210,000 strikingly designed free postcards at 2,000 distribution points draw attention to the numerous career opportunities in the industry. The campaign will run until the Tag der Logistik (Supply Chain Day) on 10 April 2025 in seven major German cities: Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart. On this Europe-wide day of action, anyone interested will have the opportunity to experience logistics live.

“The name of our Big Bang campaign says it all: we want to raise awareness of logistics and its function and importance through eye-catching postcards and posters in central locations where many people spend time every day. We are getting our message across by showing everything that is ‘made by logistics’ through every day, well-founded content,” explains Berit Börke, spokesperson for the Wirtschaftsmacher.

Logistics is colourful and diverse

With a turnover of around 327 billion euros in 2023 and over 3.3 million employees, logistics is the third-largest economic sector in Germany after the automotive industry and retail. It is also one of the country’s most important employers. It offers interesting job prospects not only to university graduates, but also to industrial and commercial trainees and unskilled workers. It is also characterised by a particularly high degree of friendliness towards career changers. In total, there are almost 200 training occupations and 110 degree programmes related to logistics in Germany.

Unlike other sectors, however, too few people are aware of the diverse career opportunities that logistics has to offer and how important it is for the economy and society. For this reason, the Wirtschaftsmacher want to set an example with the campaign in the first half of 2025 and catch up with other industries such as crafts, nursing and the chemical industry, all of which have a strong presence in politics and the media. At the same time, the initiative is continuing successful formats such as the Logistik ist da, wo ich bin video campaign.

“With this campaign, we are adding an element to our existing strategy that will help us as an initiative to maximise public awareness of the business sector and our roughly 100 supporters,” says Berit Börke.

Logix Initiative publishes second issue of dialogix magazine

The Logistics Real Estate Initiative (Logix) publishes the second issue of its municipal magazine “dialogix”. The magazine informs municipal decision-makers about current topics in the logistics real estate sector. The focus of the new issue is on “brownfields”, revitalized brownfield sites, and the advantages they offer for municipalities. The magazine illustrates these using many practical examples, both from the perspective of project developers and from that of residents and local politicians. Readers are also given an overview of the initiative’s current projects and upcoming events where they can engage in personal discussions with Logix representatives.

The initiative launched the magazine in autumn 2024 to inform municipal decision-makers about the benefits of logistics real estate and to establish a platform for dialog between them and the industry. To this end, the initiative sends the magazine to over 800 district councils and municipal offices throughout Germany and also makes it available as a free digital download on its website. A total of three issues of the magazine will be published in 2025, with the next one expected in May.

Starting signal for CTPark Düsseldorf: CTP develops largest brownfield project to date

CTP, Europe’s largest listed owner, developer and portfolio holder of logistics and industrial real estate, is developing its largest project in Germany to date with CTPark Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is also the company’s largest revitalization project in Europe. CTP is acquiring a site of over 830,000 square meters near Düsseldorf city centre from one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tube systems, Vallourec. This is the second joint transaction – in December 2023, CTP had already acquired a 335,000 sqm site in Mülheim an der Ruhr, also in North Rhine-Westphalia, for revitalization from Vallourec.

The purchase price is EUR 155 million. With a planned total investment of over 700 million euros, the developer plans to create a modern multi-user park for a broad target group from industry and production, light industry and research and development, supplemented by accompanying office space and boarding house concepts. The user group also includes companies from the high-tech segment such as chip manufacturers. In addition, a partial sale to municipal companies, including Rheinbahn, is planned.

The project is in line with CTP’s strategy of developing land as resource-efficiently and sustainably as possible. To this end, the developer primarily uses brownfield sites to construct properties that meet both modern customer needs and the latest ESG requirements. Particular examples of this are projects in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Wuppertal and Bremen. For the latter, CTP received the Brownfield24 Award in the Best Brownfield Project (Logistics) category in May 2024. The construction of CTPark Düsseldorf involves the complete demolition of all existing buildings. Only individual listed buildings will be retained and integrated into the new commercial, urban development concept.

“The acquisition of the project in Düsseldorf marks the highlight of our activities this year. It will be the largest and most extensive revitalization project in Germany to date. Our Parkmaker concept and our decades of international experience are laying the foundations for this,” comments Alexander Hund, Managing Director Germany & Austria at CTP. “Many new and innovative sectors are currently emerging on the German market, such as the semiconductor industry, as well as economic sectors related to solutions for a fossil-free energy supply. In addition, real estate users are increasingly demanding sustainable buildings in order to meet their own ESG goals. It is

precisely this demand for high-quality and sustainably developed industrial and logistics parks that we can meet.”

“We would like to thank the City of Düsseldorf and Vallourec for their trusting and constructive cooperation and look forward to the new year with great anticipation in order to push ahead with the development of CTPark Düsseldorf as quickly as possible. We are tackling this very special project and the associated challenges with great enthusiasm. We do not consider our acquisition plans in Germany to be complete with this transaction; on the contrary, we want to further expand our development pipeline with interesting projects,” adds Timo Hielscher, Managing Director M&A.

The site for the realization of the park is located in the north-east of Düsseldorf, in the Rath district, and has excellent connections to the local transport network. The A52 highway is only 300 meters away and can be reached directly from the property. The A44 and A3 are also just 4 km and 9 km from the property respectively. Düsseldorf Airport is 2 km away and the city center is 8 km away. In addition to sites in Wuppertal, Aachen, Krefeld and Mülheim an der Ruhr, this is the fifth industrial site that CTP has acquired in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2024, the developer also secured space in the BrainergyPark in Jülich, where CTP is building a high-tech production facility of around 20,000 sqm for the Taiwanese company Quanta Computer.

Planning for the CTPark Düsseldorf has already begun and the takeover of the land is planned for 31.12.2024. The development is scheduled for the next few years.

Solar power for BMW

Sunrock is installing large-scale photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 14 MWp at two BMW Group plants in eastern Bavaria. From 2025, these will provide renewable and locally generated energy via a local Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and take into account the expansion of the renewable energy supply at the car manufacturer’s sites.

Sunrock, the leading European developer of photovoltaic systems for large-area roofs, is equipping buildings at the BMW Group plants in Dingolfing and Regensburg with PV systems. Once the systems have been completed, the two sites will be supplied with climate-friendly and locally generated energy via a PPA from 2025.

In total, Sunrock is developing 125,000 square meters of PV roof area for BMW with a total output of 14 MWp, generating 14.2 GWh of electricity – enough to cover the needs of several thousand family households. In Dingolfing, one of the most powerful PV systems in Germany is being built on an area of over 100,000 square meters on a hall of the central aftersales logistics. It has a capacity of 11.1 MWp and generates around 11.3 GWh of electricity per year. At the Regensburg site, 25,000 square meters of PV roof area with a capacity of 2.9 MWp will be built, generating around 2.9 GWh. Sunrock rents the roof areas at both locations.

Nicole Haft-Zboril, Head of BMW Group Real Estate Management, emphasizes: “This project will not only create one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic systems in Germany. We are also driving forward the renewable energy supply of the BMW Group locations directly on the plant premises.”

Construction work on the projects will begin in the coming months, and the plants in Regensburg and Dingolfing are scheduled to go into operation in 2025. By working with Sunrock, the car manufacturer is further expanding the integration of renewable energies at its locations.

“The cooperation with such a renowned automotive company as BMW is an honor for us and a great opportunity for our industry to demonstrate how we can drive the energy transition forward together. In a sector with a high energy demand, similar to other industrial sectors, it is crucial to develop local solutions for sustainable energy supply. We look forward to starting the installation of the PV systems in Dingolfing and Regensburg soon and thus supplying two BMW Group plants with locally generated solar power in the future. We will be fully responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the systems. With our approach of supporting our customers and partners over several decades, we are creating long-term planning security and making a contribution to the decarbonization of the economy,” says Georg Brenninkmeijer, Managing Director Sunrock Germany.

In summer 2024, Sunrock announced that it would be equipping several plants of another international automotive group with PV systems.
