Supply Chain Day 2026 at Amazon

Behind the Scenes: Supply Chain Day 2026 Showcases Diversity and Career Opportunities in Germany’s Third-Largest Economic Sector

On April 16, 2026, the 19th edition of the Europe-wide “Supply Chain Day” took place. Amazon, Dachser, Lufthansa Cargo, Zalando, and numerous other companies, organizations, and institutes organized a total of 85 events—either on-site, online, or in a hybrid format—where approximately 1,800 participants could learn more about the organizers’ day-to-day processes and career opportunities. Through this event, the logistics industry highlights its relevance, diversity, and potential as an employer.

For “Supply Chain Day” on April 16, 2026, 67 companies, organizations, and institutions opened their doors to showcase the diverse roles and career opportunities in logistics. This year marked the 19th edition of the Europe-wide event. 85 free in-person, online, and hybrid events across Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and Ukraine offered the interested public the opportunity to experience logistics firsthand and learn more about the sector. Across all events, Supply Chain Day 2026 attracted approximately 1,800 participants.

Among the highlights of this year’s event were guided tours of the logistics and distribution centers of Amazon, Dachser, Hermes, and Zalando at the companies’ various locations throughout Germany. Visitors gained insights into air freight operations at Lufthansa Cargo at Frankfurt Airport and at UPS at Cologne/Bonn Airport, among other places. Numerous port and terminal operators as well as ocean freight logistics companies also opened their doors, hosting events at the ports of Berlin, Brunsbüttel, Duisburg, Hamm, Koblenz, Lübeck, Wörth, and Wesel.

Other formats included career orientation events such as the “Vom Klicken bis zum Klingeln” fair in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, where students could learn about training and career opportunities at booths from around 30 companies, as well as specialized events like a series of lectures and workshops organized by the Logistics Initiative Hamburg. Online discussion panels and other digital events were also on the program, such as a workshop by the startup Movitus on artificial intelligence in everyday logistics. At the international level, the Department of Marketing and Logistics at the Ukrainian National University “Lvivska Polytechnika” organized a hybrid event for students featuring lectures, discussions, and workshops on resilience and cybersecurity.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the success of Supply Chain Day again this year. This allowed us to demonstrate the importance of efficient logistics to over 170 visitors at our locations across Germany. Because what customers expect today—namely, fast, reliable delivery of their orders—is exactly what we deliver. Literally. In over 70 German cities, orders arrive the same day; in Munich, for example, in under two hours. This is made possible by a logistics system that we have consistently refined for our customers over the past 25 years,” said Lena Sprenger, Director Amazon Prime Europe at Amazon. The world’s leading online retailer not only participated with events at 17 of its logistics, sorting, and distribution centers but also supported Supply Chain Day for the fifth consecutive year as a Premium-Partner.

The day before, as part of the event, a press conference was held to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the logistics sector in these turbulent economic times. There, Prof. Dr. Christian Kille, a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt and co-initiator of the “Logistikweisen,” discussed the study “Arbeitswelt (Intra-)Logistik,” published at the end of March by the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” and the trade fair organizer EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH. It shows that logistics is viewed as a future-proof employer, though it is subject to certain prejudices. Following this, Frank Huster, CEO of the DSLV Federal Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics, presented the political and media perspective on the sector based on a recent DSLV report. He, too, emphasized the relevance and often underestimated diversity of career paths in logistics.

The next Supply Chain Day will take place on April 15, 2027.

Workplace (Intra-)Logistics: New LogiMAT Study Highlights the Strong Position of the Logistics Sector and Untapped Potential in the Competition for Skilled Workers

At LogiMAT 2026, the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” and EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH presented a new, comprehensive study offering insights into how logistics and intralogistics are perceived in Germany. The results reveal a generally positive image of the industry, but also highlight existing information gaps and traditional biases. This presents an opportunity, particularly for intralogistics, to position itself even more strongly as a modern and innovative workplace and to specifically target new skilled workers.

To kick off this year’s LogiMAT, the “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” initiative and the trade fair organizer EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH are releasing the results of their joint study, “Arbeitswelt (Intra-)Logistik” (“Worplace (Intra-)Logistics”). The project received academic support from Prof. Dr. Christian Kille of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. The aim of the study was to actively contribute to attracting skilled workers and labor by highlighting the opportunities and potential of logistics.

As part of a representative survey conducted from mid-February to mid-March 2026, 1,121 people shared their views on logistics and intralogistics. The survey examined key topics such as image, career opportunities, motivation to change jobs, and future prospects. The results show that logistics enjoys an overall positive image among the general public. A clear majority of respondents view the industry as a stable and future-proof economic sector. Opportunities for development and career advancement are also viewed predominantly positively. Intralogistics stands out in particular here, as it is perceived as a particularly attractive field of work due to its high proportion of technological innovations and interesting management tasks.

The survey also highlights that priorities are shifting in light of the current challenging economic environment. Job security is becoming a greater focus for many respondents and is increasingly gaining importance over traditional factors such as salary. Logistics benefits from this trend, as it has the potential to further expand its role as a key industry due to its systemic importance to the economy.

Information and Education as the Key to Recruiting Talent

Despite the overall positive assessment, gaps in perception and reservations remain. While logistics is viewed as modern and future-oriented, some respondents still hold traditional notions—for example, regarding working conditions or job profiles. In addition, a high proportion of people feel only partially or inadequately informed. This is precisely where an opportunity lies: as an innovative and forward-looking industry, intralogistics can specifically break down prejudices and convey a contemporary image. At the same time, the information gap opens up concrete opportunities to reach new target groups in the competition for workers. Clearer and more understandable communication of career paths, modern fields of work, and technological developments can play a decisive role in this.

“The representative survey ‘The World of (Intra-)Logistics’ provides valuable insights into how logistics and intralogistics are perceived in Germany. It clearly shows that education and communication are key to sparking curiosity about job and career opportunities and positioning logistics and intralogistics as an innovative and future-proof industry,” says Prof. Dr. Christian Kille of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.

Strong foundation for the future

Overall, the study shows that logistics has a strong foundation. However, to realize its full potential, it must reinforce positive perceptions, close existing information gaps, and communicate the industry’s appeal even more clearly.

“We are very pleased that logistics, as Germany’s third-largest economic sector, is recognized as the central backbone of modern value chains. Intralogistics in particular demonstrates how innovation works: through digitalization, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems, it strengthens the competitiveness of companies. This confirms our commitment to showcasing the diversity and appeal of the industry at LogiMAT and to inspiring young talent and career changers to join this exciting sector,” comments LogiMAT Exhibition Director Michael Ruchty of the Munich-based organizer EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH.

Jens Tosse, co-founder of Wirtschaftsmacher and project manager for the “Workplace (Intra-)Logistics” study, adds: “As an initiative dedicated to promoting the image of logistics, we see significant opportunities in the survey results. There are still gaps in information, and only those who are aware of career paths, modern fields of work, and technological developments will recognize logistics as an attractive employer. With targeted campaigns and increased communication, the industry can close these knowledge gaps, reinforce positive perceptions, and attract new skilled workers.”

To track the evolution of the public image of logistics, the LogiMAT survey will be conducted at regular intervals in the future, and the results will be presented at the trade fair.

Ayla Grundsteinlegung in Köln

AYKA ParX and Zeppelin Baumaschinen lay foundation stone in Cologne

AYKA ParX and Zeppelin Baumaschinen celebrated the start of construction of the new logistics center in the Cologne-Bonn economic and logistics region with a symbolic laying of the foundation stone. AYKA ParX is developing a custom-made logistics center for the largest company in the Zeppelin Group, with 16,400 m² of usable space indoors and 4,000 m² outdoors. From the new location, Zeppelin Baumaschinen will plan and procure spare parts for Cat construction machinery and handle storage and distribution for all branches and service stations of all business divisions within Germany. A total of approximately 100 to 125 employees will be employed.

AYKA ParX, a developer of commercial and logistics parks and an investor in industrial and commercial real estate in need of restructuring, celebrated the laying of the foundation stone for a new logistics center in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, together with Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH on October 10, 2025. Zeppelin Baumaschinen, based in Garching near Munich, is Europe’s leading sales and service organization in the construction machinery industry and has been the sales and service partner of Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of construction machinery, in Germany since 1954. With 1,941 employees and sales of around €1.19 billion in 2024, Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH is the largest company in the Zeppelin Group, a provider of comprehensive solutions in the construction, agriculture, recycling, energy, and industrial sectors.

In addition to representatives from AYKA ParX and Zeppelin Baumaschinen, representatives from the City of Cologne and Cologne Economic Department (KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung), from the general contractor Köster Bau, and from other project participants were present.

AYKA ParX is building a logistics center for Zeppelin Baumaschinen with a total usable area of 16,400 m² indoors and 4,000 m² outdoors. Among other things, a high-bay warehouse and an automated small parts warehouse from AutoStore are being built inside the hall. In addition, a hazardous materials warehouse and a production facility for hydraulic hoses are being constructed. A rooftop photovoltaic system and the use of an air heat pump will ensure CO2-reduced operation.

The property is being built on a 50,830 m² brownfield site. The company will use it for the planning and procurement of construction machinery spare parts for all of its branches and service stations of all business divisions within Germany.

“The Cologne location is of crucial importance for the Zeppelin organization’s spare parts supply. It is close to Caterpillar’s central spare parts warehouse in Grimbergen, Belgium, which supplies the logistics center in Cologne with Caterpillar spare parts. In addition, it has good connections to several highways. We are delighted to have AYKA ParX as an experienced and competent partner at our side, who has found a convincing solution for our individual needs,” comments Holger Schulz, CEO of Zeppelin Baumaschinen.

Dr. Manfred Janssen, Managing Director of KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung, emphasizes: “Projects like this show how important it is to reactivate former commercial sites. In a densely populated metropolis like Cologne, the economy also needs sufficient space to grow. This is the only way to create the jobs of tomorrow.”

“This project is special to us in several ways. On the one hand, we are pursuing an approach that aims to add value for users, the surrounding area, and the community with our real estate solutions. In Cologne, we are developing custom-made, modern spaces for a well-known company that will strengthen the regional economy. In addition, we are aiming for sustainable building development that focuses on reducing CO2 emissions and contributing to climate and environmental protection. The building application process was completed in just nine months. The building authority, economic development agency, and other relevant departments of the City of Cologne provided excellent support. We would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their cooperation and partnership,” says Patrick Schumacher-Kurowski, Managing Partner at AYKA ParX.

Construction of the property began in the spring of this year, and AYKA ParX expects the building project and outdoor facilities to be completed in the summer of 2026. The user will be able to start interior work in September 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027.

Other parties involved in the project include Köster Bau as the general contractor, the architectural firm k-fünf, and KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung.

Logix Award Preisverleihung 2025

Logix Award goes to Delta Development

The Levi Strauss & Co. European Distribution Center developed by Delta Development is the winner of the Logix Award 2025. The award ceremony took place on October 6 as part of Expo Real in Munich. A total of 27 projects were submitted to the jury for this year’s competition, a new record number of entries that underscores the high level of interest in the award. teamtosse was once again responsible for the organization and communication surrounding the event.

The “Initiative Logistikimmobilien (Logix)” awarded the Logix Award 2025 to Delta Development for the Levi Strauss & Co. European Distribution Center in Dorsten, North Rhine-Westphalia. The award was presented on the evening of October 6 during a ceremony at the Expo Real real estate trade fair. With this award, Logix honors real estate developments that particularly meet the needs of local authorities, users, and investors. It also takes into account how the projects integrate urban planning, ecological, and social aspects. From a total of 27 projects submitted to the expert jury in 2025, six finalists were nominated in a three-stage application process.

Cradle-to-Cradle and climate neutrality are decisive factors

The winning project is Germany’s first logistics real estate development to be built according to the Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy. Among other things, building materials and other materials recovered during demolition work were reused. By avoiding CO₂ emissions during construction and operation, Delta Development ensures a positive overall greenhouse gas balance over the entire life cycle of the property. The assessment was carried out using a life cycle analysis (LCA) and was recently confirmed by the international research and consulting institute EPEA. The LEED Platinum-certified property covers a building area of around 73,000 m² and was completed in October 2023.

A key factor in the property’s climate neutrality is the implementation and use of geothermal energy and photovoltaics (PV) to provide energy, heating, and cooling from fossil-free sources. This includes a 3.45 MWp PV system with a 1 MW battery storage facility, which is also uncharted territory in the logistics real estate industry. In addition, there are WELL Platinum-designed workplaces that take social sustainability into account, as well as an architecturally attractive design of the building’s exterior.

“We are delighted to receive this award for our Levi’s distribution center, and it is a great honor for the entire team at Delta Development. With this property, we set ourselves the goal of breaking new ground in the field of sustainable project development in the logistics real estate segment, with a focus on the reuse of all building materials and climate-neutral development. We would like to thank the jury for recognizing this commitment with the Logix Award 2025,” says Edwin Meijerink, CEO at Delta Development Germany.

High standards in climate and environmental protection

“This year’s competition was all about effective and innovative measures to make logistics real estate fit for the future in terms of sustainability. The winning project impressively demonstrates the measures that are already possible today to not only reduce CO2 emissions, but to bring them down to zero. In conjunction with the cradle-to-cradle principle, the Levi Strauss & Co. European Distribution Center is far ahead of its time and can therefore be described as a beacon for logistics real estate,” says Prof. Dr. Christian Kille, jury chairman of the Logix Award and professor of retail logistics at the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS).

“Delta Development deserves respect and recognition for its courage and pioneering spirit. The award for the winning project for its outstanding measures in the sustainable use of resources and CO2-neutral building development shows that the logistics real estate world is well on its way in terms of climate protection and has internalized the increasing demands of business, politics, and society. We would like to express our special thanks to the jury for their intensive examination of all the projects,” comments Dr. Malte-Maria Münchow, spokesperson for the Logistics Real Estate Initiative (Logix) and Head of Logistics Strategy at Deka Immobilien Investment.

teamtosse once again took charge of the entire award process, from the application phase to the award ceremony. It was a pleasure to provide organizational and communications support for the Logix Award. We look forward to the next time and congratulate the winner!

NEO Logistics Impact Report Cover 2024/25

NEO Logistics Impact Report 2025/2026: Kick-off for the second market report

With the NEO Logistics Impact Report, the BAUAKADEMIE Group publishes an annual market report that ensures transparency in cost and energy figures in the logistics real estate segment. The starting signal has now been given for the second market report since 2024. Companies are called upon to contribute their own data to the report and make it available for anonymous evaluation. They will receive an individual benchmark report for each property they contribute.

The market report “NEO Logistics Impact,” published by BAUAKADEMIE, an affiliated institute of the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, is entering its second round. NEO is the official successor to the OSCAR study, which was published in cooperation with JLL until 2018. The innovative report focuses on the current cost and energy indicators for logistics properties in Germany. To this end, companies in the industry are asked to provide figures and data on operating and maintenance costs in order to define, collect, and evaluate the “impacts” resulting from the use of logistics warehouses.

Operating costs have long been more than a minor issue

The anonymized data is used to compile a market report that provides users, owners, and their service providers with a neutral assessment and answers. These relate to key questions concerning the operating costs of their logistics properties and ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to providing an overview of operating costs, the report delivers a valid and comprehensive database on the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of logistics buildings.

“Operating costs have long since become more than a minor issue for investors, owners, and users alike. Rising energy prices and labor costs, higher maintenance costs, and stricter regulatory requirements have led to a significant increase in operating costs for logistics properties in recent years. With the NEO Impact Report, we have created a tool that provides transparency and, through market comparison, enables every player to see exactly where their own logistics property stands in comparison. On this basis, levers can be identified that can be used to reduce costs efficiently,” says Andreas Kühne, spokesman for the management of the BAUAKADEMIE Group.

Initial evaluation yielded numerous insights for users

With the NEO Logistics Impact Report 2024/2025, the Bauakademie published its first comprehensive evaluation of cost and energy indicators for the logistics real estate asset class in Germany. The analysis was based on data from 2023 provided by 21 companies, covering a total of 155 logistics warehouses with a gross floor area of 5.5 million square meters. With the help of a newly developed operating cost calculator, index-based projections of operating costs for 2024 and forecasts for 2025 were also created.

“The first NEO has produced relevant results for all stakeholders involved in logistics real estate. On the one hand, it has shown that operating costs are increasingly being shifted to tenants, while certain costs, such as insurance, have risen significantly. There is enormous catching up to do, particularly in the energy sector and thus in efforts to achieve greater decarbonization. We are very excited to see whether the second market report validates these findings and what further insights it will reveal,“ explains Kühne, emphasizing: ”The more companies participate and provide information, the larger the database will be, and all market players will benefit from its analysis.”

Expert advisory board as strategic advisor

Technical expertise in establishing the benchmark and interpreting the results is ensured by proven experts in the form of an advisory board, representing all stages of the value chain from planning, construction, financing, leasing, and utilization to operation.
The advisory board currently consists of representatives from Fabrikon, FIEGE, SICORE Real Assets, SPIE, Tattersall Lorenz, and WISAG, and is being expanded in a targeted manner.

Participation in the NEO Impact Report 2025/26 is free of charge. Data can be submitted until January 16, 2026, at the following web address: https://neobench.de/teilnahme/.

The market report is scheduled for publication in April 2026.

Sustainable power supply: CTP and node.energy announce energy partnership

CTP, Europe’s largest listed owner, developer and portfolio holder of logistics and industrial real estate, is taking a new approach to sustainable energy supply in the logistics real estate sector together with node.energy. node.energy GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, offers innovative climate-neutral energy solutions for producers and consumers. As the market leader for the digitalization of official notifications in the renewable energy sector, the company is developing the SaaS solution opti.node. This enables operators of renewable energy systems to implement lucrative business models in a professional and legally compliant manner.

To ensure a sustainable power supply, CTP plans to provide 90 percent of all its properties across Europe with 100 percent green energy by 2030. To achieve this, the company relies on photovoltaic systems on the roofs of its properties. As the electricity generated by solar energy is subject to fluctuations depending on the time of day and night as well as weather conditions, the developer obtains electricity from other sustainable energy sources such as wind power when consumption is higher.

With the support of node.energy, the right energy supplier can be found on a decentralized energy market. node.energy connects consumers and around 14,000 certified producers of CO2-neutral, local energy by means of direct PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements). One example of this is the “match” between the wind energy producer Windpark.eu and CTP, which provides the developer with energy generated from wind when needed.

With the new model for supplying its properties, CTP is not only taking a further step towards sustainability but is also acting as a full energy supplier itself. This allows tenants to benefit from reliable and cheaper energy. After all, independence from the regular electricity market means that there is no need for costly middlemen for the energy supply – and there is no need to accept price fluctuations. Another advantage for users is that all energy services are managed by CTP, from generating to billing. This ensures transparency and a better overview.

“CTP is leading the way: Direct PPAs are the future of sustainable and economical energy supply in Germany and with node.energy, this future has already become a

reality today. At node.energy, we ensure that the required amount of electricity from PV systems and wind farms is optimally supplied. We are delighted to be able to accompany this model in partnership with CTP,” says Michael Blichmann, Managing Director of node.energy.

In the future, the partnership will also enable CTP to trade and sell its locally generated surplus energy on the spot market.

“When it comes to energy in the logistics real estate sector, there is still a lot of potential that is currently not being exploited. Tenants and owners are facing the challenges of rising energy prices and high requirements for sustainability and climate protection, for example through the ESG criteria. The partnership with node.energy enables us to become a pioneer in the field of energy in the logistics real estate market. This also benefits our real estate users in particular. We are already looking forward to further cooperating with node.energy,” says Thomas Gooßens, Head of Energy Business at CTP Germany.

“The fossil-free energy supply is one of CTP’s many sustainability measures. These also include a fossil-free heat supply using heat pumps and a focus on the revitalization of brownfield sites. This reduces soil sealing and makes an effective contribution to climate and environmental protection and the preservation of biodiversity. All of CTP’s new properties are certified to the international BREEAM Very Good sustainability standard or better,” says Timo Hielscher, Managing Director M&A at CTP Germany.
